Blending is an ever-changing art where one can create a very different impression by blending beans than would be found if the blend components were kept separate. The key to creating a great blend is to ensure that the individual components are consistent in acidity, body, flavor and aroma. Sometimes coffee blends can’t be roasted as a single batch so they are “blended after roasting” instead. This is because water content, bean hardness, and blend taste requirements must be considered in the roasting process. |
